My first camera was a fashionable plastic purple 110 in primary school. Although I've upgraded a few times since then, I still love the excitement of trying to capture life's experiences photographically. And I also appreciate aesthetics and fashion, having (at last count) six camera bags to choose from.

Starting at a young age, for over twenty years I worked in a camera store/minilab, where I learned about many kinds of cameras (I can regale you with tales of the first digital cameras as well as the passing fad of APS) and also how to process images, restore old photographs, and use Photoshop (we started with good ol' Photoshop 4 in about 1996). I also learned from our customers about the kinds of images they loved to take, print, and frame. It was while I worked there that I started teaching myself about photography, and eventually began leading workshops to beginner digital photographers.

I am now a full-time high school teacher and part-time photographer based in the south Surrey area of Vancouver, B.C. I spend my days with teenagers at work and two black cats at home. In my spare time I love to read, listen to podcasts, take walks with my camera, and visit with family and friends. I try to stay on top of popular photography trends, and lately with help from my teenaged students have begun to learn Snapchat. What a ways we've come since my first experiences with 110 film and Photoshop 4!
