Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. Ralph Waldo Emerson It's January 9th, and already this new year is keeping me on my toes! While we have not had a snowstorm here in weeks (knock on wood) I've had plenty of other things to occupy my time and mental space. I have a lot to look forward to in 2018, like a destination wedding to attend, a new course course to teach, and a new extended family member to welcome. I'm also committing to challenging myself in different ways, such as attempting to be as organized at home as I am at work, and taking the time to enjoy some personal photography to stretch my creative limbs. What are you looking forward to this year? What celebrations, achievements, and positive changes are coming your way? Have you booked a photographer to capture those special moments? ;) It's never too early to send me a message and chat about how I can help you celebrate and memorialize your 2018 life journey. <3 [No, I am not having a baby! My two cats are enough of a handful for me. But be ready to see a tonne of baby photos later this year when I become an aunt for the first time!]

<3 Did you know January is the most popular month for online dating? <3 If you're one of those people updating their profile this month, I've got an idea for a fun way to spend an evening...book a profile party! Here's the basic idea: invite a few single friends over, and hire Melody Morgan Photography to snap some updated and flattering profile pics! Now, there can be more to it than this...imagine getting each friend to bring a couple outfits and some drinks of choice, putting on an upbeat playlist, and getting some photos where you're relaxed and having fun. And the best part? Even if no one online meets your standards, you'll have a fun evening with friends and some great pictures (plus a story to tell!). Really, you can't go wrong :) Price starts at $120 for an 1-hour session with up to 4 people in the White Rock/south Surrey/Langley area; more locations and options available - email [email protected] for more details. I'm excited to announce that I'm opening one more day of holiday mini sessions: Sunday, November 27. There are currently sessions still open for Saturday, November 19th as well.
If you'd like one of these spots for you and your family, be sure to let me know quickly as they will fill up fast! The Details:

Cliched as it may be, I can't help but associate New Year's with new beginnings and new goals. With that in mind, my first social media post of 2015 is on my blog - which is where most of my postings and sneak peeks will be going this year. With Facebook changing the way small businesses can (or, in this case, cannot) connect with their clients, it seems a good time to get back to blogging. (You'll notice that my last post was from mid-2013. That's a *slight* jump in time from then to now!) As part of this new era, I've also redesigned my watermark and will be working on redesigning the website later this year.
For my first post of 2015, I'm sharing one of my favourite images from 2014. This little guy had just finished a big mid-shoot feeding, and barely had the energy to stay awake. Sooooooo cute! And, at the end of a two-week holiday food binge myself, I totally understand how he's feeling in this moment! Here's to an upbeat, positive, and energetic 2015 - once the food coma wears off! This recent run of gloomy weather reminded me of the great weather we had in May--which in turn reminded me I never posted photos from a session I had with Karine at White Rock Beach! She was a great sport as I paraded her around the beach and we got more than a few curious looks from the tourists. Here's a look at some of the photos from that evening. I had a fun assignment the other day: a mini session with make-up artist extraordinaire Amber Crombach. Our goal was to create photos that focused on these gorgeous eyes. After some close-up shots, we played around a bit to get some glamour-type images. Here's a peek at what we did - I'm pretty happy with our results! Am I ever sore today! I had a great time yesterday photographing 8 different families. But all that monkeying around to capture the attention of the little ones, not to mention crouching down all day to get at their eye level, meant a workout unlike any other! It was worth it, though--and here are the sneak peak images to prove it. Happy Holidays, everyone!
